The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) exam is one of the most competitive and prestigious exams in India. Every year, lakhs of aspirants take part in this rigorous examination, which is the gateway to prestigious services like the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), among others.
The exam is conducted in three stages: Prelims, Mains, and Interview (Final Selection). Each stage tests the candidates’ knowledge, understanding, and overall suitability for these demanding positions. The concept of cutoff plays a crucial role in determining whether a candidate progresses to the next stage or gets selected for a particular service.
The UPSC cutoff refers to the minimum marks required by a candidate to qualify for the next phase of the exam or to be considered for final selection. It is determined based on various factors like the number of vacancies, the difficulty level of the exam, the total number of candidates, and the reservation categories.
Each year, the cutoff marks may vary, but they provide a clear indicator of the level of competition and the performance required to secure a position in one of India’s top civil services. Understanding the UPSC cutoff is crucial for aspirants as it helps them set realistic goals and gauge their performance relative to the competition.
