Important Points to Remember

  • Ceiling on Number of Candidates: Similar to the UPSC Mains examination, there will be a ceiling on the number of candidates allotted to each centre. Once the centre reaches full capacity, no further candidates will be allotted that centre. Therefore, it is recommended to apply as early as possible to secure your preferred centre.
  • First-Apply-First-Allot Basis: Centre allotment for the Preliminary examination will follow a “first-apply-first allot” principle. Early application gives you a higher chance of being allotted your first-choice centre.
  • Flexibility with Centre Changes: The UPSC reserves the right to change the examination centres if necessary, so candidates must remain flexible and prepared for any unforeseen changes.
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): All centres will cater to candidates with benchmark disabilities. Relevant information regarding the timetable and venue will be shared with PwBD candidates.
  • No Request for Centre Change: Once your centre is allotted, no request for a change of centre will be entertained. Be sure about your preferred location when submitting your application.
