The government has introduced a measure for a thorough revamping of colonial-era criminal rules in India, among other recent developments. Key statutes are being proposed to be replaced with new legislation, including:
- 1973 Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) will be replaced by the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita in 2023.
- The Bhartiya Sakshya Bill will take the role of the Indian Evidence Act of 1872 in 2023.
- The Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita will replace the Indian Penal Code in 2023.
All three measures have been referred to a Standing Committee in order to guarantee a complete examination. This committee will carefully examine the suggested modifications and any potential effects.
Along with these changes, a new offensive has been added.
