The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), and other institutions in India have created a new operating system called Maya OS. It is intended to improve cybersecurity and lessen reliance on other applications. The OS is built on Ubuntu, a well-known Linux distribution that makes use of free and open-source software. The term “Maya OS” refers to the misleading appearance of reality and comes from the ancient Indian idea of illusion. It is planned to replace Windows on the computers used by the Indian defense ministry and is intended to safeguard India’s defense systems.
